Supporting the youth
The Royal Agricultural Society was a proud sponsor of the Youth Show at the 2025 Berg Show. Judge and Howick vet Jon Alison (back left) and RAS General Manager Wayne Muller (back right) are pictured with some of the youngest participants and their furry and feathered animals.
During September and October, young people’s dedication and commitment to their livestock and pets were celebrated at the Berg and Underberg Youth Shows, both proudly sponsored by the Royal Agricultural Society.
Despite the Foot and Mouth Disease outbreak putting a temporary halt to cattle, sheep, goat, and pig showing, the spirited young competitors gave their all in the horse, dog, poultry, and rabbit sections.
Their abilities were put to the test in serious showmanship and knowledge categories, and also in fun categories too, such as fancy dress, where they and their animals could dress to impress.
“The enthusiasm and dedication shown by all the Youth Show entrants bodes really well for the future of KZN agriculture,” said RAS General Manager Wayne Muller.
“We can’t wait to see them showcase their skills once again at next year’s milestone 175th Royal Agricultural Show, as part of the KZN Youth Show.”
Muller also visited the South African National Youth Show in Upington in October, as part of preparations for the Youth Show component of next year's Royal Agricultural Show.
The 2026 Royal Agricultural Show will take place from Wednesday 29 May to Sunday 3 June at Tweedie Hall, our beautiful and historic new home.
At this landmark show, which will mark the 175th anniversary of the Royal Agricultural Society, we look forward to continuing our long partnership with the KZN Youth Show, and assisting them in supporting the next generation of farmers.
