The Royal Show's commercial exhibitor awards are part of a distinguished tradition of innovation, enterprise, and excellence stretching back nearly 160 years.

The Society first awarded a prize for locally manufactured agricultural implements in 1868, recognising the ingenuity and achievements of early Natal manufacturers. By 1904, the prestige of the Society's prizes was important enough to help motivate its application for Royal status, granted by King Edward VII.

Over generations, these early awards evolved into the prestigious trophies and medallions presented today. Since the 1970s, commercial exhibits have been judged against established standards of excellence, recognising the creativity, professionalism, and effort invested in outstanding displays.

In the Royal Agricultural Society of Natal's 175th anniversary year, these awards continue to celebrate the enterprise, innovation, and commitment to excellence that have shaped the Royal Show throughout its history.

We congratulate our 2026 award winners, whose achievements earn them a place in this proud tradition and help carry the Royal standard of excellence into the future.
