Sometimes the most memorable moments at the Royal Show are the unexpected ones.
Among the tractors, loaders and agricultural machinery on display at the 2026 Royal Agricultural Show, one little visitor discovered something particularly intriguing: MCM Robotics' Unitree Go2 robot dog.
Dressed in a pretty pink dress, the young girl was initially a little uncertain about this unusual four-legged creature. But curiosity soon got the better of her.
First came a cautious look, followed by a closer inspection. As the robot demonstrated its movements, curiosity gradually gave way to confidence, until she was comfortable enough to reach out and give it a gentle pat.
Royal Show photographer Justin Klusener captured the encounter as it unfolded, creating a delightful photographic sequence that tells its own story.
The photographs also illustrate something special about the Royal Show. Children aren't simply there to be entertained while their parents explore the agricultural machinery and exhibits. The Show offers opportunities for young visitors to make discoveries of their own, encounter unfamiliar technologies and experience the excitement of seeing something entirely new.
It was a small encounter, but a lovely reflection of the 2026 Royal Show's theme, Innovation in Agriculture — Past. Present. Future.
For the next generation, the future isn't just something to imagine. Sometimes it's standing right in front of you — on four robotic legs!
Our thanks to MCM Group and MCM Robotics for bringing this fascinating technology to the Show and giving visitors the opportunity to experience it up close, and to Justin Klusener Photography for capturing such a memorable interaction.
