2025 Royal Fat Stock Show

The Royal Agricultural Society is pleased to announce that it will be holding a Royal Fat Stock Show and National Carcass Competition in October. The event, in collaboration with AAM Auctioneers, will be held at the Lion’s River Sale Yard on 11 October 2025.

This is a national event, with carcass scores counting towards the new SA National Carcass Competition, judged in partnership with SAMIC and SAFJA. Media will be present at the event to photograph the champion animals and carcasses.

“While the RAS puts plans in place for the Royal Show next year, this event is intended to serve as a bridging competition in 2025 for our livestock participants,” said Wayne Muller, General Manager of the RAS.

The competition of A-grade slaughter animals will be judged on the hoof on Saturday 11 October by senior SAFJA judge Andrew Adams, who will be assisted with the lamb judging by Jonathan Tyler, and with the beef judging by Andrew Unsworth.

A prize-giving ceremony for the on-the-hoof component and a braai will follow the judging.

Carcass judging will be held at Halaal Fresh Meats Abattoir in Thornville, owned by Mr Junaid Mulani, on Monday evening 13 October.

The carcasses will be judged by SAMIC judges Chris Ngeleza and Selvan Odayan. The winners will be notified after the results have been collated, and the winners will be presented with their prizes at a later date.

Please contact Andrew Adams (083 631 6896), Julia Hackland (082 656 4873) or Emmy Barnard (082 770 7998) for further information.

“The Royal Agricultural Society, in collaboration with AAM Auctioneers, is honoured to host this distinguished event,” said Muller.
