A flagship display for a landmark event
As the Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) prepares to celebrate its 175th anniversary in 2026, plans are underway for a striking new feature at the Royal Agricultural Show: the Royal Pavilion — a curated exhibition environment designed to showcase premium South African agricultural products, innovation and craftsmanship.
The 2026 Show, to be held from 29 May to 3 June at the Society’s new home, Tweedie Hall in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, marks a major milestone in the Royal’s long history and ushers in a new era for one of South Africa’s most respected agricultural institutions.
Aligned with the Show’s 2026 theme — Innovation in Agriculture: Past. Present. Future. — the Royal Pavilion will form part of a broader programme reflecting both the Royal’s heritage and the evolving face of modern agriculture — from primary production to sophisticated downstream manufacturing.
Conceived as a visually distinctive centrepiece within the Showgrounds, the Royal Pavilion is intended to offer visitors an immersive experience and exhibitors a premium platform. Plans include a landmark exhibition structure, carefully designed lighting and décor, and a curated mix of exhibitors presenting polished, professional displays.
The Pavilion will focus on businesses that transform agricultural raw materials into high-value finished goods. These may include producers of dairy, coffee, wine, rum and gin, premium meat products, honey and nut products, chocolate and confectionery, as well as leather, clothing and textile products. Other premium brands rooted in South African agriculture and innovation may also feature.
Participation in the Royal Pavilion will be by selection, ensuring a cohesive visitor experience and a showcase that reflects the standards associated with the Royal Agricultural Society.
“As we look ahead to our 175th anniversary and our first Show at Tweedie Hall, we wanted to introduce a feature that speaks to both our history and the future of agriculture,” said Wayne Muller, RAS General Manager.
“The Royal Pavilion is intended to elevate how premium producers and industry bodies engage with the public, while giving visitors a beautiful and inspiring space in which to experience the very best of what South African agriculture has to offer.”
The Royal Pavilion will also form a focal point for photography, video and broadcast coverage as the Royal marks this historic year.
Producers, processors and industry organisations interested in participating in the Royal Pavilion are invited to register an Expression of Interest via the Royal Agricultural Show website. Submissions will allow organisers to shape the final layout and exhibitor mix as planning progresses.
