POULTRY

We're excited to announce that the largest local poultry show of the year will be returning to the Royal Agricultural Exhibition, starting on Thursday 23 May at the Royal Showgrounds in Pietermaritzburg.

The poultry show is hosted by the Natal and Coast Poultry Club (and affiliated with SASPO, the Southern African Show Poultry Organisation), and the friendly Club members will be on hand to chat with you and share advice or information.

You will be treated to a spectacular display of the best purebred poultry in the region. Poultry will also be on sale, and the comprehensive sale section will offer a treasure trove of opportunities for breeders to enhance their flocks. Birds may be removed once they are sold.

The poultry show is a prime opportunity for hobbyists and seasoned breeders alike to connect with fellow breeders and expand their knowledge and network. The knowledgeable Club members will also happily assist newcomers who want to discover more about the challenge of improving a breed and maintaining rare breeds to their original standard from their country of origin.

Mark your calendars: the Poultry Show runs from Thursday 23 May to Tuesday 28 May. The Poultry Hall is open for public viewing from 2pm on the Thursday, from 9am-5.30pm from Friday 24 May until Monday 27 May, and for final viewing and sales on Tuesday 28 May from 9am to 3pm.

Whether you are looking for farmyard fowls, decorative bantams for the garden or the challenge of exhibiting, be sure to visit the Poultry Hall.
