The Royal Show is pleased to host Tussen Sterre this year at our RSG Concert! Arguably one of the best South African Afrikaans pop/rock groups comprising Jan-Mattys van Lill, Martin Clifford Earle and SJ van Dyk. Their debut album ‘Kosmies’ has been making waves which they say, “has a cosmic magnitude not only for us, but for the Afrikaans industry as well.”
In an interview with El Broide, when asked, “what inspired the musical direction on the album?”, their reply was, “The direction of our music is formed greatly by our individual influences. We drew inspiration from big guitars, rock and blues and artists like John Mayer, Ed Sheeran and even Josh Groban. It’s always a challenge when writing Afrikaans music to keep in mind what the genre sounds like today. We just try to write music that is honest with what we like and still within the boundaries of the current industry.”
Their focus when making music is to create songs that represent the feelings and issues they struggle with themselves. Tussen Sterre’s stand-out moment of their career so far was having the opportunity to work with Bouwer and finally launching their first album.
Tussen Sterre are currently performing across the country and vigorously composing new music for their second album while working hard to refine their sound.
Sien julle daar!
