The Midlands Woodworkers’ Guild will host interactive displays highlighting a variety of woodworking skills and techniques every day, all day, throughout the Royal Show 2022. These demonstrations, including the art of using lathes, scroll saws, routers etc, will take place in the colonnades immediately to the right of the entrance to the Craft Hall. Members of the Durban Woodworkers’ Guild will also participate.

What is a Guild?

By definition, a Guild is an association of people with related interests, especially formed for mutual aid, and for the pursuit of a common goal. The Midlands Woodworkers’ Guild which serves Pietermaritzburg and the surrounding areas aspires to these criteria. Our Guild meetings bring together woodworkers of the different but related disciplines, enabling us to share our knowledge. We are fortunate to have several qualified judges in our Guild who are always most willing to give guidance.

Midlands Woodworkers’ Guild: Meetings

General meetings of the Guild are held on the second Saturday afternoon of the month commencing at 1.30 for 2pm in the Craft Hall at the Royal Show Grounds, Pietermaritzburg. There is secure parking. At these meetings, a variety of talks, slide shows and videos on woodworking and related topics is presented. Visitors are very welcome.

Members have access to a range of other benefits, including a fully stocked library and monthly newsletter. Special interest group meetings are also held monthly and a comprehensive display of photos and ideas is available on our facebook site. In addition, various projects are undertaken through the year.
