Did you think that your yellow rubber duck was only good as a bath time companion? Think again! Royal Duck Dash, recruiting your rubber ducks to raise funds for charity. Find out more below…
Visitors to the Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg have enjoyed the Royal Duck Dash for four consecutive years. How does it work? A selection of rubber ducks is ‘sponsored’ by the crowd for R10 a piece, then they are released into the river that runs through the showgrounds. The race is held every day from the 25th May to 2nd June, with each winner receiving R1000 cash prize!
By ‘sponsoring’ a duck or two for just R10, show goers will be raising funds for the Childhood Cancer Association South Africa (CHOC)!
In 1979, CHOC was established to support families of children with cancer, aiming to ease the burden they carry. By providing relevant, accurate information, emotional support and practical support. CHOC provides support to little patients in hospital wards and raises funds for treatment and equipment. CHOC places strong emphasis on raising awareness and advocating for those whose lives have been affected by childhood cancer. To further support CHOC and learn more about what they do, visit their website.
If you would like to enter the Royal Duck Dash, be sure to keep an eye out for the CHOC ticket booths which will be set up near the KFC River Stage. The Royal Show would like to thank our many exhibitors who support this fundraising event by sponsoring the daily R1000 cash prize!
Don’t miss out – you and your little duck friend could be winners!
