With 920 small livestock on site, the 2019 Royal Show will see close to a record presence of sheep and goats; a vindication of the Show’s deemed importance with breeders nationally.
This equates to an increase of numbers of 120 over last year.
Included in the programme is the Saffire Hampshire Down National Championships.
Although the section will be operative throughout, the competitive classes conclude on Tuesday evening with the Landbouweekblad Royal Show Carcass Auction (South Africa’s premier red meat event) followed on Wednesday afternoon with the Standard Bank Gold Cup presentation in the main arena.
As an adjunct, 2019 will also see the Royal Show hosting an Indigenous Veldgoat sale on Saturday, 1 June.
The Sheep and Natural Fibre Expo has grown significantly in recent years, and 2019 promises not to disappoint. Amongst others, regular shearing demonstrations will take place; this together with activities centred around wool and wool-related products, and informative displays of indigenous small-stock.
The Royal Show is excited to present another jam-packed section of sheep and goats this year, attracting buyers, viewers and entrants from across Africa. If you would like to find out more about this section and what it has to offer, visit the Sheep and Goat Section on the Royal Show website.
