Please note that the Royal does not operate a pass out system.
Located in Howick Road opposite Voortrekker High School. From Durban (via the N3), take the Sanctuary/Armitage Rd offramp; and from Johannesburg, the Chatterton Rd/ City or the Peter Brown offramp. All offramps are signposted.
The Showgrounds are approximately 50 minutes from both the Berea in Durban and Estcourt in the Midlands.
There are approximately 15 facilities within the Showgrounds, ranging from fast-food to good restaurant fare, several of which are licensed – but only for consumption within the facility.
Visitors are reminded that there are in excess of 1000 cattle, horses and sheep on site and that at all times animals will enjoy right-of-way. Appropriate care is therefore required, particularly with younger children. Unaccompanied children may at certain times be denied access to roadways used for livestock crossing purposes.
Any profits generated by the Royal Show are expended solely on agriculturally related service activities and on maintaining the Society’s facilities.
No surplus funds are made available for distribution to any individual or corporate entity by way of a profit share or dividend.
The Royal Agricultural Society of Natal, a private non-profit organisation, run largely by volunteers who of their own volition have a tradition – extending for 170 years – of hosting a show in support of agriculture, broad economic activity in KZN and the community.
The Royal Show incorporates a modern fairground located to the east of the main arena. No children under the age of 12, unaccompanied by an adult, will be permitted access to the fairground.
Please ensure that all children under the age of 13 have on their person a contact address and telephone number. Parents are urged to keep a watchful eye on their children at all times – but if lost, youngsters and/or parents are asked to report to the SAPS Charge Office behind Hall 3.
The Royal prides itself on the cleanliness of its ablution facilities, the locations of which are clearly marked. Baby changing facilities are available, by way of a flat tiled surface; these facilities are located at: Hall 4, opposite Hall 7 and the Standard Bank bankway between Mercury Hall and Dorpspruit.
Monday, 30 and Tuesday, 31 May are expected to be the least frenetic. Also, a visit on these days is recommended if you have a particular interest in livestock.

HOMEBRANDS has exhibited at the Royal Agricultural Show Pietermaritzburg for well over ten years with various stands and products at each expo and every time, through inventive and original programming, the Show offers a valuable platform to promote and market our new products, and engage with a captive audience in KZN for continuous and new business year after year. We thoroughly enjoy the friendly and relaxed atmosphere at the Showgrounds, which brings in plenty of customers each year, and as much as the whole team is exhausted after ten days, we always look forward to returning the following year to yet another successful Royal Show!
We at MASCOR certainly enjoyed being at The Royal Show and a good amount of business was created and captured there. We could hardly believe that it passed so quickly. A big vote of thanks to you and your team, especially Lara, the Exhibitions Manager, who made it a great success for us. We certainly benefited by the move kindly offered to us and we hope to keep the new stand for future Shows.

We have been going to the Royal show for over 10 years and every year each family member has their own highlights, That’s why I love the Royal Show, there is something for everyone, young and old!!The food stalls, the craft stalls and all the exhibits are so exciting and creative every year. Each time I go I learn about new products and fall in love with new things. This year my child is super excited to see Nixie The Clown and Kimbo The Clown. Hubby is excited for SA National Dog Agility Champs and Bikes UnLTD Moto Stunts. IM SUPER EXCITED for the 2 concerts happening,I cant wait to see Prime Circle on Sat and Stever Hofmeyer on Sunday Its going to be one FUN FILLED FAMILY WEEKEND thanks to Royal Show South Africa
