2019 RSG Afrikaanse Musiek KonsertMay 17, 2019
Music and agriculture come together harmoniously at the Royal Show this year! The East Coast Radio Royal Rock Concert is one of the Show’s top attractions, and draws South Africa’s most popular artists who entertain enthusiastic crowds!
This year’s Royal Rock concert takes place on Saturday, 25 May, kicking off at 14h30. We are so excited for you to look who we’ve got in store for you this year…
- Sutherland – Sutherland is an indie-folk band based in Johannesburg, South Africa. What drives their song-writing is their shared passion for unique yet challenging composition. Combining simple and unusual structures with an acute focus on detail, Sutherland strives to achieve a singular style of music that is simultaneously accessible and alluring to anyone who hears it. On- and off-stage, their music is bright, thought-provoking and groove-driven in all the right places.
- Holley Rey -Holly’s career is a masterclass in how to combine a musical gift with integrity, professionalism and a deeply-embedded sense of community and love for the country she calls home. It’s also a living lesson in having the resilience – borne of passion – to stay the long course, despite those who doubted this 23-year-old’s affinity for House music.
- Kyle Deutsch – His track Can’t Get Enough has been featured in the South African record-breaking box-office comedy, Keeping Up With The Kandasamy’s, with a remix of the same track featuring heavy-hitters Kwesta, Tellaman, BigStar Johnson & Sheen Skaiz dropping some of the hottest bars. Committed to growing the music industry, Kyle continues to work with upcoming artists, which is evident in Now That We’re Talking, which features Mnqobi Yazo with Maps Maponyane and Mishqah Parthiephal who stars in the video.
- Goodluck – The GoodLuck sound fits nicely between the worlds of electronic and pop, while taking subtle influences from genres as varied as electronica, jazz and beyond. Their shape-shifting, genre-bending style is driven by the group’s diverse musical tastes and backgrounds. That dynamic dexterity is all part of the GoodLuck ethos; when three musicians come together to create, there are three perspectives, three ideologies and three agendas to balance.
