And we wouldn’t have it any other way! Once again, the Royal Show plays host to man’s best friend, with two days of dog agility trials – a real tail-wagging event which never fails to delight the crowds!
Originally created as a demonstration event at the world-renowned Crufts Dog Show in the 1970s, says the South African Dog Agility Association (SADAA), dog agility is now one of the fastest growing canine sports globally. Fast and fun, dog agility is a fantastic spectator sport, and tests the fitness, trainability and speed of a dog around a numbered course with various obstacles. Dogs compete in height categories, across three levels – Grade One (Beginner), Grade Two (Intermediate) and Grade Three (Advanced).
In addition to the dog trials, we also have a very special demo of dog dancing – a sport taking the world by storm! It’s so much more than just a gimmick, points out the South African Dog Dancing Association – it’s a sport that highlights the unique bond between handler and dog.
