News24 describes The Kickstands as ‘a band you should know’; they describe themselves as ‘rough and improvised’, and this year we welcome this indie-at-heart Durban-based duo of Gary Nixon and Rudi Greyvenstein to #RoyalRock!
With over 1000 gigs down locally and abroad since 2009, The Kickstands have certainly kept themselves busy. Playing their own brand of acoustic rock, The Kickstands pride themselves on being able to perform at both intimate venues and major festivals and showcase events, like the Royal Show’s Royal Rock concert.
Without radio support, their live performances have carried their unique, improvised and energetic acoustic sound around South Africa, gaining fans along the way. They’ve performed, and been the supporting act for, some of South Africa’s most popular artists and bands, including Goldfish, Just Jinger, Goodluck, Gangs of Ballet, Desmond and the Tutus, Mango Groove, Shortstraw and Arno Carstens, as well as international acts like Germany’s Milky Chance.
