Show Features

Catering: A variety of fare, ranging from fast food to restaurant dining is available. Restaurants include:  The Heritage, Caviar & Cucumber Cafe and Scotts Family Restaurant.

Barrow Service: In return for a nominal ‘tip’, a limited barrow service will be provided by Voortrekker High School to assist with ferrying purchases.

Feature Gardens
Feature gardens showcasing the unbelievable talent of Parks Departments from major cities, corporate participants and landscapers, schools, garden clubs and members of the public can be found in the Parks Hall, Hall 2 and Hall 1.

Shopping
A list of commercial exhibitors can be obtained from the Information Kiosks located in the Parks Hall and the Vodacom Tower.

People’s Choice Competition
Vote for your favourite gardens and stand in line to win fantastic prizes in our lucky draw competition.  Voting forms will be handed out at the entrance and ballot boxes will be located in the Parks Hall, Hall 2, Hall 1 and at the Vodacom Tower.  Prize winners will be announced throughout the day so listen out for your name over the PA System.

In Tune With Nature
‘In Tune with Nature’, an event hosted by Mayfords and Tanya Visser, where music and gardening information are shared with the audience, will take place on Sunday, 2 October.  Tickets are R120 each and can be booked via the Society’s office.

SA Garden Reader’s Day with Keith Kirsten
SA Garden Magazine will be holding a Reader’s day event on Saturday, 1 October featuring Keith Kirsten – advance purchase ticket holders only will be able to attend.

Cooking Demonstrations
1000 Hills Chef School will be holding ongoing cooking demonstrations in the Demonstration Kitchen inside the Parks Hall.  See overleaf for the timetable.

Nurseries
There are a substantial number of nurseries and garden centres on site – certain with highly specialized plant material –offering a comprehensive range of garden products, plants and ‘green’ accessories.

The Outdoor Adventure Expo
The Outdoor Adventure Expo’ on the Main Arena concentrates on outdoor leisure activities for the whole family, including tourism and recreation.

Ready Steady Plant!
Under the watchful eye of Tanya Visser, editor of The Gardener, teams race against the clock with just 20 minutes to construct a 4m x 4m garden using the same materials.   Ready Steady Plant is a fun-filled event which takes place on three occasions during the show.

Dog Athletics
This year’s Dog Athletics on the Main Arena has an exciting line-up including an international event on Saturday at 09h00.

Baking and Creating with Illovo
The Illovo Floral Cake of the Year Competition – South Africa’s largest and most prestigious display of icing at its best – is featured in Hall 9

Crafts Demonstrations
Join ‘The Bossy Cake Queens’ and ‘Gorgeous Crafters and Decorators’ for demonstrations on Cake decorating, Fabric Painting, Soap Making, Table Decor and gifting, and deep dip marbling as well as learn to make fabulous pestos and decadent desserts. All these events take place in Council House on Sunday, 2 October from 09h30 onwards.

Floral Art
The competitive Floral Art division affords displays of the highest order in Hall 7.

Orchid Hall
The Orchid Hall is a breathtaking experience which also offers retail sales; find them in The Grill Room.

Quilts
The Midlands Quilters Guild will be displaying their fine work in the Member’s Dining Room.
